How do we do this?

Our Mission

To promote the business, economic and civic well-being of the City of Sullivan and environs, so that the community may grow and prosper.

The Sullivan Chamber and Economic Development (SCED) was founded in 2016 by combing the Chamber of Commerce’s 75 years of experience in Sullivan with the successful three years of the Sullivan Area Economic Development Corporation. The main goal of the merge was that together the group is stronger, more efficient and collaborative in the efforts to promote the business, economic and civic the well-being of the City of Sullivan.

The SCED believes that as a combined organization, it can encourage more businesses to join, attract more passionate volunteers, create more events for local citizens and visitors, and most importantly, better support the local businesses and solicit new business to town.  Together fundraising can be done more effectively without depleting the generosity of the local businesses.

The SCED is a model economic development organization and was one of the first known in the state to combine Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development and Tourism under one umbrella. The combined resources make the SCED the office the hub of information and activity in Sullivan.

The SCED works to bring new ideas to the community and to execute those ideas with the highest level of quality and professionalism as possible.  The Sullivan Chamber & Economic Development is comprised of individuals who believe that Sullivan is a special place to live and work. We want to continue the visionary ideals of our forefathers along with the city council and county board to ensure that the quality of life and business environment continue to be the best possible.
